I began to truly desire to change my lifestyle in an effort to lose weight in 2005. The necessity for this change became real to me very quickly as I stood in line for a theme park ride with my young children. There was a family ahead of us in the line and the mother was denied entry onto the ride, as the safety belts would not fit around her. She looked to be about the same size as me. You see, at that time, in my mid-30s, my weight was 275 pounds. I was anxious and embarrassed as I waited. Even though I was able to fit in the belts and ride this ride, this time with my family, the situation definitely opened my eyes to where my current lifestyle was headed.
You may be familiar with many of the feelings and emotions I was experiencing during this encounter. Feeling less of a human, judged, embarrassed, and ashamed, because of my outward appearance, not to mention what was going on inside me and the stories I was telling myself. These were feelings I felt on a loop, which in turn fueled behaviors that kept me on an unhealthy path. On this day, though, my thinking changed. It became more than wanting to lose weight and be thin. My why became that I needed to be healthier, and prioritize my well-being so I could be there for my family and all of those I love! And when I say "I needed to become healthier", I mean I was determined and focused to become healthier. Habits and routines were developed early on, and I began to live the lifestyle that served my journey toward well-being. Searching inward, I changed the way I ate, along with adding consistent daily movement, and the support of my family and friends. Over the course of about 15 months, I chose to regularly show up for myself and was able to lose 125 pounds. I have kept that weight off for more than 15 years now. Thus I enjoyed an incredibly active life with my family, as my kids grew from children to adults, so quickly I might add. Even still, as empty nesters my husband and I enjoy a fun and active life of riding our Harley, walking and working on our home and property & hanging out with our adult children.
My lifestyle change for well-being has served me and will continue to do so. I am grateful. I would love to work with you, on your personal transformation. Click below to get started!
